THE REASONS WE EAT MORE WHEN WE DRINK.

Ever wondered why excessive drinkers carry a keg of beer around their midsection and still cannot stop eating?
There are several reasons for that. Scientists in a UK study, have proven that alcohol makes you eat a lot more than you would normally eat. In the study they had two groups, the first group was given 12 groups of later that had no alcohol on it but they were not aware if that. The second group was given, a drink with alcohol that would make two drinks.Hoth groups were observed, it was noticed that the group that had the alcohol drink ate 30% more.Even though their drinks were higher in calories, the amazing thing about it is they were not hungry but they still ate more. So the question is why?

BLOOD SUGAR SPIKE AND CRASH.
Alcoholic beverages are very high in sugar, science has proven that, when we consume very high sugar the body will quickly give a sugar rush then demand more insulin to metabolize the sugar and shortly after we experience a sudden crash in energy that makes us want more sugar, so we return to the high sugar state again. It becomes a high and low, vicious cycle.

WRONG TYPE OF FUEL.
Food is fuel to the body, the body is a special machine that is very similar to a car. It needs food to get energy to fuel. The body could get fuel from carbohydrate, protein and fat. These are the major food groups. When you eat something that does not belong to these group, though high in calories, it will not meet the body’s standard for fuel. Though it is food, it is not premium fuel. The calories are empty. The body instinctively continues to crave fuel, hoping that you will recharge with the right kind of fuel. You interpret the cravings as wanting more but it us actually wanting more of the right fuel. The body also sees the alcohol as an assult to the system because it is toxic, so it keeps making the demand for the right food to help metabolize the toxin l

BROKEN FUEL GAUGE.
If you have ever had a car with a broken fuel Guage, you cannot tell when there is fuel and when there is no fuel. This is what alcohol does to our senses. It takes us to a state that we lose our senses and our Guage. We become aliens. Some people that are talkative become extremely quiet and those that are quiet become talkative and completely lose their guage. Many fill the confusion they feel with food and more food.

THE NEED TO SOCIALIZE.
Drinking sends you to a euphoric state that makes you want to live dangerously. You tend to desire to enjoy your company with friends and family by doing things that make you feel good. This is what you consider as fun at that moment.

JUNK FOOD TASTES BETTER WITH BOOZE.
We usually associate drinking with greasy, great tasting food. You hardly see any one eat healthy food with alcohol. It is almost impossible to imagine a bowl of salad with a glass of beer, we see alcohol as a treat and we want it to go together with other treats. We mentally, associate alcohol with junk food like pizza, chicken wings or a greasy,juicy, cheesy burger. That is what makes us feel compensated for a stressful day or week.

HOW TO TAKE CONTROL WHEN YOU DRINK.
Apart from a beer gut. Excessive drinking could be dangerous to the health due to the cravings. You can reduce the risk to your health by reducing your drinking to two portions so that you can still have control. You can also plan healthy options ahead of time.
